Vakuladevi had an interesting background since her previous incarnations. In the preceding Dwapara Yuga when the Lord incarnated as Sri Krishna, Vakuladevi was his mother, Yasodha. She could not stay alive in that Avathara of the Lord to bless him on his marriages.
Though the Lord married eight princes -Rukmini, Satyabhama, Kalindhi, Mitravindha, Nagnajit, Bhadra, Jambhavati and Mandhara - in his previous Avathara as Sri Krishna, none of these marriages wre during the life time of his mother Yasoda. This incomplete wish of his mother, the Lord assured her, would be fulfilled in the succeeding Kali Yuga when he would be incarnating as the Lord of Thiruvenkatam. "In Kaliyuga I will be incarnating as Srinivasa. I shall be meeting you at the Seshadri. You will be known as Vakuladevi and shall be worshipping Sri Varahaswamy there. I shall be fulfilling your wish in that incarnation. You will be celebrating my marriage then and shall be happy.
Sri Krishna's promises to be fulfilled in this incarnation to Vakuladevi as a good son to her. As was foretold by the Lord Yasodha was reborn as Vakuladevi. She came to the hill shrine of Sro Varahaswamy and was attending to the services of the Lord. Sri Varahaswamy had also been instructing her into higher spiritual ways of life.
